Now in its 15th year, "Living on the edge" is a 10-minute play festival. The main aspect is a playwriting competition for Michigan-based writers. Anyone based in Michigan is welcome to submit a script for a 10-minute play which utilizes the each year's unique theme (2018 being [un]breakable. A panel of judges narrows the submitted scripts down (based on how well the script draws on the theme, if it is 10 minutes, and quality of writing) and the top 10-15 scripts receive a public read. From there the top 5 scripts are chosen and those 5 scripts receive full performance in June.
With more than 7 full-length productions every seasion, plus our annual Living On the Edge ten-minute play series, and the development of new works, we're always looking for dedicated performers. The Actors’ Theatre Endowment Fund represents our long-term future in the community. Though the principal of this endowment cannot be used for general operating expenses, the proceeds from the investments of contributions provide valuable operating revenue to the theatre.
