Actors’ Theatre of Grand Rapids, celebrating its 30th season of bringing West Michigan the best in entertaining, innovative, challenging, and thought-provoking theatre is now accepting applications for the following internships:
Position: Arts Marketing and Communications Intern
Term: June 14, 2010 – August 13, 2010
Description:
The Arts Marketing and Communications Intern will be responsible for assisting the Director of Development and Marketing with the preparation of promotional and underwriting materials for the 30th Season of Actors’ Theatre. Some of these responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Designing production graphics for web and print materials
• Designing print and web informational materials for corporate and individual underwriting programs
• Preparation and copy writing of scheduled communication materials for the 2010-2011 production and event calendar.
• Assisting the Director of Development and Marketing with the research and development of unique and creative ways of increasing patron participation.
• Providing at least 20 hours weekly to projects and tasks for Actors’ Theatre. This may be accomplished with a combination of off-site and on-site (office-based) work.
Requirements:
Candidates for the Arts Marketing and Communications Intern should possess the following attributes:
• Ability to prioritize effectively, whether working on-site or remotely.
• Demonstrated ability to apply creativity across a variety of presentation mediums (i.e. – online, print, and installation/performance)
• Familiarity with digital creative software applications (i.e. – Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
• Demonstrated writing skills in both formal and informal communication styles.
• A dedication to the performing arts.
• A commitment to diversity in art, theory and practice.

Position: Development and Administrative Intern
Term: June 14, 2010 – August 13, 2010
Description:
The Development and Administrative Intern will be responsible for assisting the Director of Operations and the Director of Development and Marketing with the ongoing process of securing underwriting for the 2010-2011 season and the reporting and administration of financial information for the organization. Responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:
• Maintaining and updating patron information and donation data.
• Research and preparation of materials for grants and funding proposals
• Preparation and copy writing of scheduled donor communications for the 2010-2011 season.
• Assisting the Director of Operations with the entry and maintenance of financial and subscription data and information.
• Providing at least 20 hours weekly to projects and tasks for Actors’ Theatre. This may be accomplished with a combination of off-site and on-site (office-based) work.
Requirements:
Candidates for the Development and Administrative Intern should possess the following attributes:
• Ability to prioritize effectively, whether working on-site or remotely.
• Strong interpersonal communications skills and ability to present both self and Actors’ Theatre positively.
• Familiarity with software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, coupled with familiarity or willingness to learn financial software such as Quickbooks and our patron management software, Giftworks.
• Demonstrated writing skills in both formal and informal communication styles.
• A dedication to the performing arts.
• A commitment to diversity in art, theory and practice.

Compensation:
The posted internships above are unpaid positions, however Actors’ Theatre will provide additional compensation for work and productivity in position including, but not limited to:
• High quality/high resolution samples of written and creative works for portfolios and personal publications.
• A formal letter of recommendation upon satisfactory completion of the Internship
• One Season Ticket to the 30th Season of Actors’ Theatre
• Free attendance to Actors’ events and fundraisers during the duration of the internship
