A Rich History of Contemporary New Works

image from Lines: The Lived Experience of RaceActors’ Theatre has produced new works throughout its history. We continue to maintain ongoing support of new plays and playwrights though the offering of public readings and the inclusion of new works in our programming calendar - once they have achieved readiness for full production.

An annual example of this commitment is our Living on the Edge ten-minute play festival, which begins with a call for submissions each fall and culminates in a public performance of the final five works selected from panel discussion and public readings. Original works performed recently during the main stage production calendar include the 2007 production of Seven Passages: The Stories of Gay Christians, the 2010 ethnographic drama Lines: The Lived Experience of Race, and the 2011 world premiere of RUST.
